Harihasrhwar is occoupied by beautiful mountains,hills and lakes.The river Savitri enters the Arabian Sea from the town of Harihareshwar. Towards the north of the town is the temple of Lord Harihareshwar, said to have been blessed by Lord Shiva. Hence Harihareshwar is often referred to as Dev-ghar or “house of God”. It is also known as Dakshin Kashi.Harihareshwar is one of the finest places in Konkan. It is famous for a temple on the seashore as well as the beach and the natural beauties here.Harihareshwar is only 18 kms far from shrivardhan.If you want to enjoy travelling by sea,the launches are also available between the two towns. The temple here is one of the major attractions. Harihareshwar is known as Kashi of Southern India. The hill on the seashore at Harihareshwar is also known as ‘Harihar’ or ‘Pushpadri’.

The harihasrhwar tempal is very old and authentic the construction period of this temple can not be easily said.The temple might be constructed in Shivaji’s Period as one can find such sculptures. But was re-constructed by First Bajirao Peshawa in 1723. The temple consists of idols of Brahma – Vishnu – Mahesh and Devi Parvati. The other temples in the premises are of Shri Kalbhairav and Shri Yogeshwari.Truly, Harihareshwar is a place of temples and beautiful seashore. The atmosphere here is very auspicious and creates pleasure. The seashore, beach , the dark woods near the sea and the temple are worth to visit. You must visite the place and enjoy.

Shrivardhan

Diveagar Beach :

        Diveagar beach is a charming natural beauty situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.  A perfect representation of all that the Konkan Coast stands for, Diveagar Beach is a quaint amalgam of greenery and azure water with gentle sprinkles of white sand. Diveagar beach along with the strong tides from the Arabian sea make it an ideal setting for sea surfing. One of the less crowded beaches in Maharashtra, the Harihareshwar beach is located in the Raigad district,. Surrounded by four hills named Harihareshwar, Harshinachal, Bramhadri and Pushpadri, It is usually called as ‘Dakshin Kashi’ because of its temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Harihareshwar has two beaches on either side of Harihareshwar temple, the main attraction of Harihareshwar. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has also established a beach resort on the southern-most of the two beaches. One of these beaches is a straight stretch in front of the temple, It is an evergreen place, i.e. it can be visited at any time throughout the year due to favourable weather conditions. It is nestled in the lap of the beautiful range of Sahyadri’s hills.

Kalbhairav Temple :

 

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is one of the most ancient and the most renowned temples of Maharashtra. The deity of Lord Shiva and Kalbhairav, the lord of all manthra shastras, are places in the temple along with others. It is believed that Lord Shiva created Kalbhairava and blessed him with all manthras. The architecture of the temple is quite unique and attractive. Apart from the excellent design, the cool breeze from the sea makes the temple complex a cool and pleasant place to sit back and relax.

Sundernayaran Temple :

 

Sundernayaran Temple is an ancient temple believed to be established in 13th century under the reign of King Shilahar. Also known as Rupnayaran Temple, the place features some exquisitely carved sculptures. The idol of the presiding deity of the temple comprises of four hands each accessorized with Gada (weapon), Shank (Shell), padma (Lotus) and Chakra (Wheel). Each of these accessories is beautifully carved showcasing 24 distinct forms of Lord Vishnu when seen clockwise.

Shankar Temple :

 

Shankar Temple is an ancient temple believed to be rooting back to the era of Pandavas. It is located close to Somaja Devi temple and is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. This beautiful temple apart from exhibiting a magnificent architecture also features an idol of Nandi at the entrance, standing there to protect Lord Shiva. Also the idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are intricately carved displaying craftsmanship.
